Happy 4th of July

As the title says, it’s the 4th of July, and for many that means wings, ribs, steaks, and an alcoholic beverage of choice. Fireworks too, though I’m not as big a fan of those as I used to be. Good food however will always make any holiday worth remembering.

And as for remembering, we should never forget the reason for the holiday, and the principles and values this country was founded upon, especially in these politically turbulent times. Both sides of the spectrum are guilty of wanting to curtail our freedoms, and that goes against everything this nation should stand for. I’m not going to bore, or “offend” anyone with a drawn out political rant. I just want people to keep certain things in mind, such as  Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

Don’t forget to check out my lore section for an update to the Loringlund tour. There… was an issue… I’ll just leave it to you to guess at what might be going on. I’m not really certain of it myself.

Also, Hobby Corner will be returning soon. I promise. I’ve had a lot of other things to work on lately, including keeping promises to myself. I will probably also introduce a few new things later on that may catch your attention. So stay tuned, and don’t stop checking in from time to time. Just because there isn’t an update to my front page, doesn’t mean I haven’t been changing a few other things on the side… 😛

A Big Update for a Changing Site

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another site update. A BIG update for my book fans today, and a lot of information about what can be expected in days to come, so let’s just get right to it.

First of all, the site itself. I have removed the ART and TIBBOLD SIGHTINGS tabs, as they were currently serving little purpose. Instead, they have been replaced with the LCoA LORE and SECRETS tabs respectively. LCoA LORE is where I’m going to put all my extra lore entries concerning The Last Chronicle of Azurden, including maps, character profiles, coats of arms, and any other tidbits I decide to reveal, or others want to see. Currently I have put up a map of Loringlund, the country featured in “A Deal in the Darkness” and have had Archimede give brief explanations of several locations referenced in the story. Archimede is a bit of a… character, but I felt he’d be more appropriate for the task than I. Here is a picture of the map so as to get a glimpse of just how in depth I intend the lore section to become.

Map

The map was made with an online program called Inkarnate, a fantasy map making software I decided to use largely because I didn’t want to create all my own assets. (That takes a TON of time I simply do not have). Everything else about the map however, was hand crafted, and I think I got as close to a likeness of Loinglund as I can get without being a full on cartographer. To see closeups of the map, as well as the descriptions of some of the places, just click on that LCoA LORE link up top.

SECRETS is a bit of a new approach to an old idea. TIBBOLD SIGHTINGS wasn’t expanding as I would have liked it to, and I thought it likely there would be other stories I wanted to add that had nothing to do with the mercenary werewolf. Tibbold is still there, but now that section has a wider range of possibilities, from short stories I just feel like posting, to secret little plot points and asides concerning my main body of work. It’s intended to be a little gold nugget for devout readers who want more, and that is what I want to make it. Currently, only the first story, The Princess and the Wolf is available, but I intend to add others in the future.

Now, a little update on the progress of Book 2. Book 2 IS continuing but there’s little more I can say on it currently. My hope is to have it out by the end of this year, or early next. When it arrives, you’ll be sure to know. In the meantime I will also be announcing other books from Ellysian Press authors, and perhaps even conducting a few interviews for those interested. Keep checking back each week, as now that I’ve laid some framework for creating content, this site is just going to keep getting more and more of it.

That’s it for today. Check back Friday for a Hobby Corner update. I’m not sure what I will reveal yet, but I can tell you it’s going to be big.

TGIF

Just a quick update to let you guys know that, yes I’m still here, and yes, I’m still updating. There are just a lot of things I’m trying to get ready so I can update the site more frequently. I have coats of arms to do, maps to design, models to get ready, and… a lot more. In many ways it seems overwhelming. With spring and summer in full swing there is also a lot of upkeep to do on the house, and I am years behind. Yes, I said years.

Anyway, I will try to put up a new model display this weekend, but note, there is a lot of other work to do, and I don’t know what I’ll put up. Anyone interested in seeing some elves? Oh, wait… I meant aelves? No… no it was definitely elves.

Hobby Corner 5

A Quick Update for my hobby fans

For those wondering what my hobby exploits have been, I have not been up to much given the events in my previous post. However, that doesn’t mean I have been up to nothing. Take a gander at the latest model  added to the “painted” portion of my collection.

My phone in no way does the model justice, but I’ve been a little too busy with other things to get a proper rig set up for taking model photos.

This is an “Alpha Warp Wolf” from the “Hordes” range of models, made by Privateer Press. It’s refreshing to work in a range outside of Games Workshop and there are certainly lot’s of options for creative color schemes. Some might notice his left hand is a bit… fugly. That’s my fault. I originally gave him a weapon to go with my Wolfgryns (That’s the Forge World skinwolves made into Astra Millitarum ogryns), and eventually decided against it. Always think things through completely before altering your models guys. You don’t always get a redo.

I also have a unit of smaller wolves as well, with battle-axes, and I intend to paint them all up in a winter color scheme. It’s going to be awesome! Some other models from the Hordes range are currently sitting on my bench waiting to be finished, and I will show them off as soon as they are.

I am going to try and update Hobby Corner every Friday, but it may take me some time to get a proper set up that will do this section, and my painting skills, justice. Eventually, I hope to show off entire armies, and a few amazing terrain peices.

Before I go, I would just like everyone to know that, yes, I will do commissions, but have not worked out a system to handle them effectively. If you are interested in having me paint your models, contact me at my email address and we can try to work something out.

Time for an Update

*Blows off Dust*

*Cough* *Cough*

Oh, dear, has it really been over half a year since I last updated? Shame on me. Here I am paying for a blog, and I’m not using it! That has to change…

I know this is the third time I’ve come back from a long absence. This was the result of a variety of personal reasons, most notably the fact that I almost lost most of my immediate family to a variety of health problems, both physical and mental. They would appreciate if I kept the details to myself, but there were a few times over the last several months I thought I might not be seeing either my mother or my sister again. That time is not over, and probably never will be, but it is certainly a lot better now than it was, and I have been able to get more work done on my writing as a result.

Now, for those wondering about The Last Chronicle of Azurden: book two, I hit a MAJOR issue that has taken me a very long time to work out, and so many rewrites I could fill up a whole flash drive with written and cut content. I’ve written entire chapters, only to decide they were garbage. Scenes and events that seemed… okayish before, turned to absolute tripe under a different pair of eyes. The characters, the places, the events, they just weren’t adding up, and I wrote and wrote and wrote to try and force them together, largely to no avail. Every writer goes through this. It’s quite common and has to do with a potent cocktail consisting of ‘lack of confidence’ mixed with a dash of ‘writers block’; but, combined with the issues above, it made working on book two a nightmare, and there were many days I just couldn’t bring myself to write another page because I knew it would just be deleted later. That time IS over. I just recently finished one of the most important chapters in the entire series, and I am finally happy with it. The rest of the book should be pretty straightforward, save for the finale (which will be even more epic than part one I might add) but that is a battle to be fought at a later date.

So then, what is going to happen to the site going forward. Am I still going to show off my Warhammer armies? Am I still going to discuss my books? What about artwork? Or character bios? Am I just going to disappear again in three weeks? Well, truth be told, I don’t know. It is more my nature to observe as opposed to proclaim, and so I do not often talk about things I find insignificant, or just plain don’t want to talk about, no matter how much it may be impacting my work. This has to change, but I have no idea what the best way to do so is. Do I discuss every movie I go to see? Do I talk about the book I read? Do I show off my latest model? Or do I do something on Azurden (or other) characters? I guess the real question is, what do you want to see from me? I will experiment with a few things, but regardless, now that book two for The Last Chronicle of Azurden series is underway again, changes are coming; new, interesting changes. But you’ll just have to visit again soon to find out what those changes are 🙂

By the way, I appreciate feedback, and have a comment section. If you liked any of my books and want to see more, had some opinions on my latest tabletop peice, or simply wish to say hi, please leave a comment.

Also, if anyone is interested in doing artwork of characters from any of my books, not just The Last Chronicle of Azurden I would be proud to post it, so long as its not lewd. I intend to keep this a family friendly site.
