Hobby Corner 5

A Quick Update for my hobby fans

For those wondering what my hobby exploits have been, I have not been up to much given the events in my previous post. However, that doesn’t mean I have been up to nothing. Take a gander at the latest model  added to the “painted” portion of my collection.

My phone in no way does the model justice, but I’ve been a little too busy with other things to get a proper rig set up for taking model photos.

This is an “Alpha Warp Wolf” from the “Hordes” range of models, made by Privateer Press. It’s refreshing to work in a range outside of Games Workshop and there are certainly lot’s of options for creative color schemes. Some might notice his left hand is a bit… fugly. That’s my fault. I originally gave him a weapon to go with my Wolfgryns (That’s the Forge World skinwolves made into Astra Millitarum ogryns), and eventually decided against it. Always think things through completely before altering your models guys. You don’t always get a redo.

I also have a unit of smaller wolves as well, with battle-axes, and I intend to paint them all up in a winter color scheme. It’s going to be awesome! Some other models from the Hordes range are currently sitting on my bench waiting to be finished, and I will show them off as soon as they are.

I am going to try and update Hobby Corner every Friday, but it may take me some time to get a proper set up that will do this section, and my painting skills, justice. Eventually, I hope to show off entire armies, and a few amazing terrain peices.

Before I go, I would just like everyone to know that, yes, I will do commissions, but have not worked out a system to handle them effectively. If you are interested in having me paint your models, contact me at my email address and we can try to work something out.

Time for an Update

*Blows off Dust*

*Cough* *Cough*

Oh, dear, has it really been over half a year since I last updated? Shame on me. Here I am paying for a blog, and I’m not using it! That has to change…

I know this is the third time I’ve come back from a long absence. This was the result of a variety of personal reasons, most notably the fact that I almost lost most of my immediate family to a variety of health problems, both physical and mental. They would appreciate if I kept the details to myself, but there were a few times over the last several months I thought I might not be seeing either my mother or my sister again. That time is not over, and probably never will be, but it is certainly a lot better now than it was, and I have been able to get more work done on my writing as a result.

Now, for those wondering about The Last Chronicle of Azurden: book two, I hit a MAJOR issue that has taken me a very long time to work out, and so many rewrites I could fill up a whole flash drive with written and cut content. I’ve written entire chapters, only to decide they were garbage. Scenes and events that seemed… okayish before, turned to absolute tripe under a different pair of eyes. The characters, the places, the events, they just weren’t adding up, and I wrote and wrote and wrote to try and force them together, largely to no avail. Every writer goes through this. It’s quite common and has to do with a potent cocktail consisting of ‘lack of confidence’ mixed with a dash of ‘writers block’; but, combined with the issues above, it made working on book two a nightmare, and there were many days I just couldn’t bring myself to write another page because I knew it would just be deleted later. That time IS over. I just recently finished one of the most important chapters in the entire series, and I am finally happy with it. The rest of the book should be pretty straightforward, save for the finale (which will be even more epic than part one I might add) but that is a battle to be fought at a later date.

So then, what is going to happen to the site going forward. Am I still going to show off my Warhammer armies? Am I still going to discuss my books? What about artwork? Or character bios? Am I just going to disappear again in three weeks? Well, truth be told, I don’t know. It is more my nature to observe as opposed to proclaim, and so I do not often talk about things I find insignificant, or just plain don’t want to talk about, no matter how much it may be impacting my work. This has to change, but I have no idea what the best way to do so is. Do I discuss every movie I go to see? Do I talk about the book I read? Do I show off my latest model? Or do I do something on Azurden (or other) characters? I guess the real question is, what do you want to see from me? I will experiment with a few things, but regardless, now that book two for The Last Chronicle of Azurden series is underway again, changes are coming; new, interesting changes. But you’ll just have to visit again soon to find out what those changes are 🙂

By the way, I appreciate feedback, and have a comment section. If you liked any of my books and want to see more, had some opinions on my latest tabletop peice, or simply wish to say hi, please leave a comment.

Also, if anyone is interested in doing artwork of characters from any of my books, not just The Last Chronicle of Azurden I would be proud to post it, so long as its not lewd. I intend to keep this a family friendly site.
